December 11, 2022
Gandhinagar: One of five victorious candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat may join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Bhayani was in the State capital Gandhinagar today “for his personal work”. In reply to media queries, he said he would take a decision on joining BJP after meeting the people of his constituency, his supporters and the farmers. Bhayani said he is proud of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi who has increased the glory of the nation across the world. Bhayani said his political emergence also took place under the leadership of Narendrabhai Modi when he was in BJP. Bhayani said he would converse with his supporters, people, and cadres and take a decision on joining BJP.
In replies to a media query, he said that he was congratulated by PM Modi and State BJP chief CR Patil after his election to the State assembly.
Bhupat Bhayani who defeated both BJP and Congress candidates in the Visvadar constituency of Junagadh district in the recently concluded State assembly polls was in BJP two years ago. After his election as MLA from AAP, he is now joining BJP. Bhayani had defeated sitting MLA Harshad Ribadiya and Karsanbhai Vadodaraiya. Ribadiya was Congress MLA from this seat. He had resigned from Congress and joined BJP and contested as a BJP candidate.
Bhayani’s joining would lift the BJP tally in the State Assembly to 157 from 156 out of a total of 182. The other four AAP MLAs-elect are also reportedly in contact with BJP. All independent candidates who have been elected to the State Assembly had also been with BJP in the past. The possibility of their induction into the BJP can’t be denied. One of them, Dharmendrasinh Vaghela who has been elected from the Vaghoadia seat is likely to join BJP tomorrow. DeshGujarat
