Gandhinagar: Regular elections will be held for two district panchayats, 17 taluka panchayats, and 71 municipalities in Gujarat in the year 2023. The elections will also be held in 3835-gram panchayats. The five-year term of public representatives of two district panchayats namely Kheda and Banaskantha and 17 taluka panchayats will end in the first quarter of the year 2023.

The state government formed the Zaveri commission headed by the retired chief justice of the high court Kalpesh S Zaveri in July 2022 to review OBC reservations in local self-governing bodies and to decide the proportion again as per the directive of the court.
