CBI books family of MoRTH official in disproportionate asset case

Gandhinagar: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has charged the wife and daughter of the MoRTH chief engineer and former chief general manager of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in a disproportionate asset case.

Rajni Mishra, Digvijay Mishra’s wife, and Samridhi Mishra, their daughter, have all been accused by the CBI of amassing assets totalling Rs 3.16 crore between September 1, 2020, and July 15, 2022, despite the fact that none of them was generating income. On December 21, an FIR was submitted under the Prevention of Corruption Act against them.

Digvijay is charged with violating the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly favouring a business involved in constructing the 109-kilometre Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway.
According to CBI sources, Digvijay was favouring the company when it came to paying invoices, selecting projects, issuing completion certificates, and extending deadlines.
Later, a CBI team investigated his home and discovered Rs 21 lakh in cash. Neither Mishra nor anyone from his family could provide a credible explanation. The CBI then started looking into the Mishras’ purchases and spending and discovered a number of irregularities in the transactions. DeshGujarat
