Raise awareness against Chinese Manja : Guj HC to Govt
January 07, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High court today, told the state government to raise awareness against Chinese kite string. It also came down heavily on the administration saying that no outcome will come just from doing meetings.
It asked the government and police to take action against the people selling the Chinese Kite string. The bench of Chief Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Ashutosh Shastri said that it is important to raise awareness about the prohibition of Chinese manja. The administration should use electronic as well as social media and other means to raise awareness, the court said.
The Cybercrime department also submitted to the court that it has written a letter to the online seller to not sell the Nylon Kite string.
Yesterday, the court instructed the Home secretary of state to file an affidavit about the measures taken to stop the use of Chinese manja in one day’s time.
Furthermore, the bench was dissatisfied with the state government’s previous response in which it mentioned that the State Govt has ordered the use of Sec 144 of CrPc to prohibit the use of Nylon strings. It came down heavily on the government lawyer and said, “We don’t want to know about your past glory. We want to know about your future action.”
