Gandhinagar: Gujarat is all set to play its part in the G20 Presidency of India with a series of discussions, deliberations and meetings. The first in the list of 15 events is the Business20 inception meeting which will be held from 22 to 24 January 2023 in Gandhinagar.

India assumed the G 20 and seeks to play an important role by finding pragmatic global solutions for the well-being of all. The g-20 Presidency for India marks a crucial point in its history as it coincides with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The 18th G20 Summit will be held in September 2023.

The inaugural ceremony of the B20 inception meeting shall be graced by Mr. Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Textiles, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution; Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw,  Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Communications and Railways; Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel,  Chief Minister of Gujarat,  Amitabh Kant, India’s Sherpa to G-20. Mr. S N Chandrasekaran, Chair B20 and Chairman, Tata Sons, and more than 150 policymakers thought leaders, business executives, CEOs, and senior executives representing enterprises from the G20 countries will attend the inaugural meeting, along with representatives from a number of multilateral organisations, to encourage fruitful discussions and debates on the business agenda under B20 India.

Gujarat Government will host a dinner for the G-20 delegates followed by a visit to Dandi Kutir. The delegation will also experience the rich cultural tradition of Garba and Dandia at the amphitheater of Mahatma Mandir. The government has also organised a yoga and ayurveda session for G-20 delegates at Punit Van. A live craft demo and millet station are going to be set up at the venue. The delegates will also visit the emerging global fin-tech city, the GIFT City coupled with a glimpse into the heritage and culture of Gujarat at the Stepwell of Adalaj followed by an Eco-tour at Punit Van.

The main programme for the B20 inception meeting has been devised by the B20 India Secretariat in accordance with the subject of the conference, “R.A.I.S.E: Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable and Equitable Businesses.” The inception meeting would formally launch the Presidency work of all the Task Forces and Action Councils under B20 India, among other B20 India Secretariat efforts. There will be discussions on the identified priorities and the meeting will initiate work towards formulating policy recommendations to be submitted to the G20, ahead of the Leader’s Summit.

The B20 delegates will discuss and deliberate on multifaceted global issues such Climate Change, Digital cooperation across borders in the time of wars and pandemics, Sustainable and Resilient Value Chains, levelling up innovation among netizens, and Financial Inclusion for Empowering Communities of various Socio-Economic conditions. Additionally, task forces will be working on Inclusive GVCs for Resilient Global Trade and Investment, discussing Future of Work, Skilling, and Mobility, Digital Transformation, and Financing for Global Economic Recovery.

The sessions will be themed on “Climate Action: Accelerating Towards Net Zero Energy for Greener and Sustainable Future”; “Rethinking & Revitalizing Innovation to Drive Inclusive Impact”; “Redefining the Global Digital Cooperation: A Call for Action”; “Building Resilient Global Value Chains: Advancing Inclusion & Integration of All”, and “Fostering Financial Inclusion and Empowering Societies”.
