President Biden invites PM Modi for state visit to US: Reports

New Delhi: US President Joe Biden has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi for a state visit in the summer later this year. According to the news agency PTI, Prime Minister’s office has accepted the invitation in principle, and both Indian and US officials are engaged in discussing mutually convenient dates.

PM Modi has visited the US several times before, but this will be his first state visit, which includes a state dinner banquet and official public ceremonies that show the highest level of friendly relations between two sovereign states. The visit may also witness PM Modi addressing the joint session of the US Congress.

According to PTI, both sides are seeking dates in June and July when not only the US House of Representatives and Senate are in session, but Prime Minister Modi’s schedule has no domestic or international commitments.

The last meeting between PM Modi and President Biden occurred in Bali in November 2022 on the sidelines of the G-20 summit. DeshGujarat
