New Delhi: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Tuesday evening put a quiz on his Facebook page and asked to guess which station design was in pictures attached to the post. He also passed a hint and said the design was inspired by a famous temple of that city. While most of the commenters replied that it was proposed Ayodhya railway station in pictures, some could give right answer that the pictures were representing the proposed railway station of Somnath in Gujarat.

It’s worth noting that Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is presently upgrading the Somnath railway station which is expected to cost around Rs 134 Crores through Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
The Somnath Railway Station is being redeveloped on the architectural design of the Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga Temple. The railway station is being developed using the concept of green building for energy saving. This station will have an exclusive building façade displaying the local heritage of Somnath Temple. It would also have separate arrival and departure lounges.
