Former Minister explains his tweet for which he was trolled heavily

Gandhinagar: On the 9th of February, former minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama had on his verified Twitter handle tweeted a photograph with the caption that he congratulated a chowkidar at Lakhni circuit house (government guest house) for giving a half glass of water.

Chudasama was trolled heavily over his tweet. Among others, one of Gujarat Congress Spokespersons had also trolled him “for tweeting something that was insignificant”.

However, Chudasama in a detailed Facebook post clarified that the tweet had, in fact, a deep cause attached to it and, the half glass of water offered by a chowkidar had important significance.

Chudasama in his Facebook post first narrates the importance of saving water and shares details of what sort of water shortage and the struggle for water he has witnessed throughout his life. Then he makes clear that he had hailed the watchman because the watchman offered him only half glass of water, sufficient enough for a person.

“I don’t have any anger towards those who make fun of this campaign, but pity that they are ignorant of this global problem. I applauded the wisdom of the watchman that he gave as much water as a guest would need. Hardly anyone drinks a full glass of water. After drinking one or two sips, we throw away the rest,” Chudasama wrote in his Facebook post.

Chudasama in a talk with a regional news channel further clarified that he runs a ‘half glass of water only’ campaign for a long to spread the message of saving water. Chudasama said, he believes that a person should be offered half a glass of water only. If a person requires more water then, the glass can be filled again. But if a glass full of water is offered and as it happens in most cases, if a person consumes only a couple of sips or half a glass of water, then the other half portion of the water would be thrown in the wash basin or gutter and wasted thereby.

Chudasama said, years ago this watchman had heard his speech in which he had stressed serving only half glass of water to guests. The watchman told him that he was offering half a glass of water recalling that speech. DeshGujarat
