Surat road built using CGBM technology intact in best condition for last six years

Surat: Six years ago a 120-meter road was built near Gokulam dairy in the Athwalines area of Surat city for a trial. Six monsoon seasons passed away but the road is intact without any need for maintenance as it was built using cement-grouted bituminous mix (CGBM) technology. According to the senior scientist of CRRI (Central Road Research Institute) Mr. Manoj Shukla, this road stretch will not require maintenance even in the next five years. The road was built in June 2017 using CGBM technology. The road has been built mainly using open-graded aggregate mixtures using cement, sand, fly ash, micro silica, superplasticizer, and water. Construction of roads using the same method in Surat, Vapi, and Vadodara is underway with the help of CRRI research partner Dr. Suman Chakravarty, SVNIT Surat’s Prof GJ Joshi a Mettest laboratory Surat’s MD Vishal Raiyni.
