Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi is likely to visit Home-state Gujarat on April 26 to attend the concluding function of Saurashtra Tamil Sangam.
Though there was no official announcement, it was learned that the Prime Minister was earlier scheduled to visit Prabhas Patan Somnath in Gujarat on April 17 to attend the inaugural function of Saurashtra Tamil Sangam. However, due to his reported engagement with a foreign delegation on the same date, the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit from 11 am to 1 pm in Somnath on April 17 had been put off. Instead of the Prime Minister, the Saurashtra Tamil Sangam inaugural function is likely to be attended by Union Home Minister or Defense Minister now. The Prime Minister is now likely to attend the concluding function instead of the inaugural function.
A large number of people from Saurashtra had migrated to Tamil Nadu, centuries ago due to Islamic invasion and atrocities. During the Saurashtra Tamil Sangam program, the Saurashtra origin people from Tamil Nadu will visit Gujarat. While the inaugural function will be in Somnath, the Saurashtra-origin Tamilians will also visit Dwarka, Vadodara, the Statue of Unity, and other places during their stay in Gujarat. DeshGujarat
