Sabarmati: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) may demolish the upper portion (slab and road surface) of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj flyover in the Khokhra area in the East. The bridge has been closed for vehicular traffic many months ago soon after its opening due to poor quality. Various lab reports have concluded that the bridge requires to be demolished. However, the tests of the pillars are yet to arrive. A decision shall be soon taken whether to demolish only the slab portions or the pillars as well. Four engineers are suspended and two agencies involved are blacklisted forever. Police complaints will be filed against those responsible. The expenses of demolition and reconstruction shall be collected from the contractor responsible for poor construction.

-A youth Jitubhai Sevak today reached Gomti pond in pilgrim town Dakor to give his life by submerging himself in Gomti pond. He was taken away by the Police. Jitubhai had threatened suicide protesting the lack of cleanliness in the pond. Sevak said the administration had assigned the task to clean the pond to a boat-ride operator, however, cleanliness is not maintained by boat-ride operators. The floating restaurant vessel was under construction at the Sabarmati riverfront. It was today put in the water by using two cranes. The floating restaurant will be under trial for one month period, after which it will be opened for the people.

– Conman Kiran Patel has been sent to police custody till 18 April in a cheating case filed by the operators of an event management company. This fresh complaint against Kiran was filed today in the Crime Branch of Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
