U20 Mayors’ summit to take place in Ahmedabad this July

Amdavad: The U20 Mayors’ Summit is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad in July, under India’s presidency of the G20.

Ahmedabad as the chair of the 2023 U20 summit has outlined six key areas of focus, aligning with this year’s G20 theme of “One Earth – One Family – One Future.” These priority areas aim to inspire cities to take action in response to global agendas.

The identified areas are as follows:

1. 1. Encouraging environmentally responsible behaviors
2. 2. Ensuring water security
3. 3. Accelerating climate finance
4. 4. Championing local identity
5. 5. Reinventing frameworks for urban governance
6. 6. Planning and catalyzing digital urban futures

The U20 is a parallel event to the G20 summit. While the G20 primarily addresses global economic concerns, the U20 specifically emphasizes urban issues and their significance for sustainable development, climate change, and social inclusion. DeshGujarat
