June 13, 2023
Ahmedabad: The government of Gujarat has made the decision to set up a special organization responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of various initiatives as part of Ahmedabad’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games.
A government resolution from the Sports, Youth, and Cultural Activities Department, dated May 24, 2023, states that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed to manage the development of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave. The SPV will receive support from a team of experts and consultants as needed.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and the Naranpura Sports Complex will have feature facilities for a range of Olympic sports to accommodate Ahmedabad’s bid for the 2036 Summer Olympics. Both the central and state governments are collaboratively involved in the planning and execution of this project. The SPV will be responsible for managing all activities related to the project, as explained by a senior government official. DeshGujarat
