Ahmedabad: Another man from Gujarat has tragically lost his life in a foreign country. Hiren Gajera, a 41-year-old man originally hailing from the Memnagar area in Ahmedabad, was kidnapped for ransom and brutally murdered in South America.
According to available information, Hiren, who resided in Ecuador, was initially abducted by Colombian terrorists and subsequently killed for ransom.
On June 3rd, Hiren Gajera attended a birthday party for a friend’s father. However, he never returned from there, as he was kidnapped by Colombian terrorists in El Empalme, South America, while on his way back. The news of his abduction, extortion, and subsequent murder soon came to light. The terrorists demanded a payment of 1 lakh US dollars or 70 kg of drugs.
After some negotiation, the terrorists agreed to release Hiren Gajera for a payment of 20 thousand US dollars. The family accepted the conditions set by the terrorists, including having Hiren Gajera’s wife deliver the money alone. However, their efforts were in vain, as the terrorists killed Hiren and disposed of his body in a river. His decomposed body was discovered after six days.
Hiren Gajera initially moved to South America in 2006, and after residing there for several years, he returned to Ahmedabad in 2014. Later, in March of the previous year, he went back to America. Hiren was involved in the teak wood business in the city of El Empalme. DeshGujarat
