Milk for Rs. 300 per liter, daal Rs. 500 per Kg if opposition was power at present; Inflation was 10% in their govt: PM Modi at Rajkot
July 27, 2023
Rajkot: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi while addressing a public function in Rajkot today slammed the opposition and said how the government in the centre is protecting the poor and middle class against inflation.
“When so much work is getting done(by our government), some people have problems with it. Those who always kept the people of India deprived, those who had nothing to do with the aspiration of the people, are now a bit angrier seeing the development, these corrupt dynast people have changed the name of their Jamaat. Faces are old, sins are old, tactics are old and the same, and their motives are the same,” the PM said.

“When the middle class gets something for cheaper, they (the opposition parties) complain that farmers are not getting the right price, when farmers get the right price, they complain about inflation! This duplicity is their politics. And you may observe, what is their track record when it comes to the issue of inflation. When they were in power, inflation was above 10 percent. If we had not controlled inflation, if there was their government at present in power, milk could be available at Rs. 300 per liter and Daal Rs. 500 per Kg. It’s our govt that has despite of covid pandemic, and the Russ Ukraine war, controlled inflation in the country. Today in our neighboring countries, inflation is rising by 25-30% rate. That’s not the situation in India. We have been controlling inflation and we will,” the PM said.
“Our govt has tried to see that the middle class has the maximum saving. Earlier Rs. 2 lakh income would attract tax, today even for Rs. 7 lakh income there’s no tax. The urban middle class saves thousands of Rupees every year. We also took the step for more interest in small savings. This year EPFO interest is fixed at 8.25%. How do the policies of our government save your money? One example is your mobile phone also. Today whether rich or poor, all have phones. Each Indian month uses 20 GB of data on average around. Do you know how much 1GB of data would cost in 2014? You had to pay Rs. 300. If that same government was even today in power, you could have to spend a minimum of Rs. 6,000 per month. But today for 30 GB of data, a bill is Rs. 300 to Rs. 400. You save Rs. 5,000 per month over mobile bills only,” the PM further said.

“For families that have senior citizens, grandfathers or grandmothers, or some kind of illness in the family, the government is ensuring saving. We started Jan Aushadhi Kendra, thanks to which Rs. 20,000 crore sum worth of savings have happened for poor and middle-class people. The government takes a series of steps to ensure savings for the poor and middle class,” the PM said. DeshGujarat
