Jamnagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat Police has nabbed a Mamlatdar and his middleman in a bribe case in Jamnagar district today.
The accused are identified as Bipin Rajkotiya (56), Mamlatdar at Lalpur in Jamnagar, and Khakhabhai Sagathyiya(59) a middleman. Rajkotiya is a class-2 officer of the Government of Gujarat.
According to ACB, a complainant is operating a fare price shop which is registered in the name of his mother. Mamlatdar had demanded Rs. 800 per month bribe (Rs.2 bribe per month per card, meaning Rs. 800 bribe per month for 400 ration card/permit holders linked to the complainant fare price shop operator) for issuing nil report of checking. Mamlatdar was on the basis of this calculation demanding Rs. 1600 as a bribe for two months.
As the complainant was not willing to pay a bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and a middleman was held accepting Rs. 1600 bribe on behalf of Mamlatdar.
ACB has detained both accused. DeshGujarat
