ACB Gujarat nabs Deputy Sarpanch in bribe case

Valsad: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat Police today nabbed a deputy sarpanch in Valsad district in bribe case.

According to ACB, accused Haribhai Sakharambhai Gangode(52) is deputy sarpanch of Hunda village in Kaprada taluka of Valsad district in South Gujarat.

ACB in its note stated that a house under Pradhanmantri Aawas Yojana was approved for a complainant and in two installments Rs. 1.10 lakh sum was deposited in his bank account. A deputy sarpanch had demanded Rs. 5,000 for smooth clearing the formalities for allocation of house. The accused had taken Rs. 1,000 installment of bribe earlier. The accused was demanding the second installment of bribe of Rs. 4,000.

A complainant was not willing to pay bribe and therefore contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and the accused was nabbed after he accepted Rs. 4,000 bribe sum. DeshGujarat
