Traffic e-challans worth Rs 415.29 crore are still unpaid in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: People who received e-memos for violating traffic rules over the past three years have not paid fines totaling Rs 415.29 crore, the state government informed the Gujarat Assembly on Thursday.
In response to multiple inquiries regarding uncollected fines from e-memos, the government’s written response revealed that 19.12 lakh e-memos were issued in 2020-21, 21.32 lakh in 2021-22, and 21.39 lakh in 2022-23. The outstanding amounts for these e-memos amounted to Rs 134.90 crore in 2020-21, Rs 138.47 crore in 2021-22, and Rs 141.92 crore in 2022-23.
Regarding efforts to recover e-memo fines, the government stated that violators have the option to pay fines at the nearest police station or use various digital payment platforms. In Ahmedabad city, 5.12 lakh e-memos were issued in 2020-21, 11.20 lakh in 2021-22, and 13.11 lakh in 2022-23.
