People in Gujarat will receive a testing message on their mobiles on Oct 16: No need to worry

Gandhinagar: ‘Large Scale Testing of Cell Broadcast’ is scheduled to take place throughout the entire state on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. The Cell Broadcast Alert System is a facility for sending crucial information about various natural calamities to mobile devices. Notifications, ranging from severe weather warnings to evacuations and rescue operations, will be transmitted to the public via mobile devices to ensure their safety. A test message regarding this will be broadcast on your mobile.

As stated in a release from the State Emergency Operations Centre in Gandhinagar, the message will have the following text:

“TESTING MESSAGE sent through Cell Broadcasting System by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India. Please ignore this message as no action is required from your end. This message has been sent to test Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. It aims to enhance public safety and provide timely alerts during emergencies.”
