Surat: Seven members of a family allegedly ended their lives by committing suicide in the Palanpur Patia area here today.

It is learned that the family of seven resided in Siddeshwar Apartments, opposite Nutan Raw House, and that they took this tragic step last night. The Adajan police have arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

A police official told the media that one person died by hanging, while six people died after consuming some poisonous substance. The police, during the preliminary search, found a note that does not state any names but points out some financial troubles, according to the police.

Although more official details regarding the case and the reasons behind this family suicide are not yet been known, it is suspected that a person administered poison to his wife and children before taking his own life. The incident came to light when neighbors attempted to wake up the family in the morning but received no response. Because of this, they called the police, who later arrived at the scene, broke the door to gain entry into the house. After entering the house, they found all the deceased family members.
