People who had severe Covid-19 should refrain from hard work for some time: Health Minister

Bhavnagar: With the increasing occurrences of heart attacks in the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has advised that individuals who have experienced severe Covid-19 infections should refrain from engaging in strenuous physical activity or vigorous exercise for a period to reduce the risk of heart attacks. This guidance is based on research conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Mansukh Mandaviya stated, “ICMR conducted an extensive study and learned that individuals who have endured severe Covid-19 infections should avoid heavy activities for a some duration. This should be postponed for a year or two.”

The state of Gujarat is witnessing a concerning trend of rising heart attack-related fatalities, particularly among young and middle-aged individuals. Saurashtra, in particular, has experienced a significant increase in heart attack cases, with young people being the primary victims.

Recently, a tragic incident occurred on October 22, where a 17-year-old boy suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while participating in Garba dancing in Kapadvanj, Kheda district. Dr. Aayush Patel, MD Medicine, shared details of the incident, explaining that the young boy, Veer Shah, experienced dizziness and became unresponsive during the Garba dance. Despite immediate attention and attempts at cardio-respiratory resuscitation by volunteers at the scene, the boy did not show any vital signs.
