Ahmedabad: The Congress and its I.N.D.I Alliance partner parties, in an attempt to target Prime Minister Modi, are again and again targeting his home state of Gujarat.
In one instance, Mamata Banerjee, addressing Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, remarked, “The Indian team played so well that they won all the matches in the World Cup, except the one attended by the sinners,” as reported by news agency PTI. She did not explicitly name anyone.
The Bengal Chief Minister went on to suggest that India would have won the World Cup final if it had taken place in Kolkata or Mumbai instead of Ahmedabad.

Similarly, after India’s loss at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena leader and spokesperson for Uddhav Thackeray, commented, “The final match should have been played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but the Gujarat lobby led by BJP spirited away the match to their state. Before that, they had even changed the name of the stadium to Narendra Modi Stadium.” Raut implied that the BJP, rather than the BCCI and ICC, seemed to dictate the terms of the event.

Some people say that we would have won if the match had happened at Wankhede Stadium. I can’t comment about it, though,” says Shiv… pic.twitter.com/MtFEXAFvJU

In another instance, the Chief Minister of the poll-bound Rajasthan and Congress party leader, Ashok Gehlot, took a dig at Gujaratis, stating, “I was in charge there during the Gujarat elections in 2017. Then Modi ji said – If you listen to Marwari, then where will I go? Now PM Modi himself is coming here. Now I am not saying that if you listen to Gujarati, where will I go? Therefore, people of Rajasthan, I am yours only, I am not away from you.”
Furthermore, another Congress leader and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday, questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to explain why malnutrition is allegedly increasing in his home state of Gujarat and India. Siddaramaiah criticized those who previously praised Gujarat as a model, urging them to address the rising malnutrition index in the state.
It is worth mentioning that the Election Commission of India has issued a notice to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi regarding his ‘panauti’ and ‘pickpocket’ remarks directed at PM Modi, and has requested a response by November 25th.
The Congress leader had commented, “Our boys would have won the World Cup, but the panauti (bad omen) lost us the match.”
पनौती 😉
