Electric train engines start operating on Porbandar route

Porbandar: With completion of electrification of railway line connecting Porbandar to Jamnagar, all long distance trains connecting Porbandar are now fitted with electric engines, replacing the old diesel engines.
With completion of electrification of railway line, a trial run was conducted on Vansjaliya-Porbandar section this year. From Sunday this week, all long distance trains connecting Porbandar are fitted with electric engines. The first such train was run on Bhanvad route.
According to railway department sources, all trains connecting Porbandar will get electric engines. It will make 20% saving on cost compared to diesel engines. It will also save fuel. It will also save timing on changing of engine at Ahmedabad railway station. DeshGujarat
