Social worker Piyush Dhanani resumes anti-wrong-side driving campaign after recent assault

Surat: Social worker Piyush Dhanani, undeterred by a recent physical assault on him in the Kapodra area, has resumed his crusade against wrong-side driving in his same old style. In a recent incident, Dhanani stopped a two-wheeler rider going against traffic flow, leading to an altercation where he was assaulted. Despite the setback, Piyush remains committed to his cause.

In the latest video from Surat, Piyush can be seen stopping two-wheeler riders from going on the wrong side. What is noteworthy is that even with the service road present, these riders kept choosing to go the wrong side, which Piyush questions them about. It can be seen in the video that men, women, and even the school students, most of them without helmets, are riding on the wrong side of the road.

In the video, most of the vehicles were coming from schools, and Piyush points it out to the parents that what will the kids learn from them when they do not follow the traffic rules and choose to drive on the wrong side.

Last Tuesday, Piyush confronted a rider driving on the wrong side in Kapodra area of Surat and urged him to follow traffic rules for safety. When the rider refused to do so, Dhanani took the vehicle key. However, some individuals gathered and started beating up Piyush, demanding that he return the key to the rider. Even after returning the key, the rider persisted in driving on the wrong side, prompting Piyush to protest. Later, the matter escalated, prompting Piyush to file a police complaint at Kapodra police station.

The police subsequently apprehended four individuals—Ajay Lal, Rajkishore Gupta, Karan Gupta, and Gautam Lalla Saroj—all engaged in selling fruits in the Mota Varachha area. The four, identified as migrants, were taken into custody for their involvement in the assault on Piyush. DeshGujarat
