Junagadh: Mahant of Upla Datar in Junagadh has wished to cast his vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, for which he has proposed the election commission to open a polling station for him atop the Girnar hill.

Bhimbapu of Upla Datar has in a letter conveyed to the election commission that he has his election card with him and that he is an eligible voter, but as per the tradition, he can’t leave the top of Girnar Hill. He said he has not left the top of Girnar for the last 30 years ever since he took over as Mahant of Upla Daatar. He further said that the previous Mahants Patel Bapu and Vithal Bapu had also not left the top of Girnar when they were Mahants.

It’s worth noting that the election commission had previously in Junagadh deployed a polling station for a single voter in Banej in Gir jungle for late Bharatdas Bapu. DeshGujarat
