Two more Congress office bearers set to join BJP in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: In another setback to the main opposition Congress party in Gujarat, two more party office bearers have tendered their resignations and left the party to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on January 29.

The latest three party office bearers who resigned include Bavla based Agriculture Produce Market Committee(APMC) Chairman Balvant Gadhvi, the Chairman of the Other Backward Class (OBC) cell of the Gujarat Congress Ghanshyam Gadhvi and party leader Sanjay Gadhvi.

Balvant Gadhvi is also the district Congress president of Ahmedabad. he contested Vatva assembly seat for the Congress party in the 2022 elections in Gujarat. Balvant Gadhvi said he decided to resign as the Congress party boycotted the pran pratishtha function of Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir. Balvant Gadhvi is the same who had faced allegations in former district collector SK Langa’s corruption cases. Gadhvi owns two rice mills.

Gadhvis are going to join the BJP on 29 January afternoon at the State BJP headquarters Shri Kamalam in Gandhinagar. The Charan community leaders have noted that the Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi gave his 20 minutes time to deliver a speech at Aai Shri Sonbai Mataji’s Janma Shatabdi. The State government too extended full support to the occasion.

In recent days, two Gujarat Congress MLAs from Khambhat and Meghraj have left the party and the post of the Member of Legislate Assembly. They are probably going to join the ruling party and contest in the by-elections on respective seats.

Ruling BJP has formed a team of its leaders who can be contacted by Congress office bearers and elected representatives if they want to leave the party and join BJP. Gujarat is going to witness elections on 26 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming general elections of Lok Sabha nationwide in April/May this year. DeshGujarat
