Controversial event canceled in Dediapada after uproar over religious conversions

Narmada: A day after Hindus alleged a religious conversion attempt, a Christian community event scheduled to be held in Sankhli Village of Dediapada has been cancelled.

The event, namely “Aatmik Jagurti Sabha,” which was scheduled for February 11th, has now been called off. Local residents, along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and Rashtriya Adivasi Manch of Narmada district, submitted a memorandum to the district collector on Thursday, claiming that the event was intended for the religious conversion of Adivadis in the region.

After receiving the memorandum, the police initiated a probe and summoned the organizers of the event.

In its memorandum to the District Collector, Rashtriya Adivasi Manch of Narmada claimed, “In the name of a spiritual gathering, the Christians have organized a program to convert tribals into the Christian religious faith.”

District Development Officer Ankit Pannu confirmed that the memorandum was forwarded to the police department, and the organizers were summoned for statements. DeshGujarat
