Civil Aviation Director removed from his post for failing to offer Govt aircraft, pilot to CM

Gandhinagar: The Government of Gujarat has reportedly removed IAS officer Ajay Prakash from the post of Director of civil Aviation after the government-owned Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) couldn’t provide the government aircraft to the Chief Minister for his visit to Delhi. The charge of the post is handed over to Dr. Dhaval Patel.

As per a report, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil reached the GUJSAIL terminal of SVPI airport at 7.45 am on 28 March to reach Delhi, but they were told that the new Challenger plane owned by the State government was not available due to technical reasons. The pilot of another plane, an old one owned by the State government, which is a B-20 model aircraft, was on leave. This old plane’s pilot is contracted by a Delhi-based Jet Serve company. The Chief Minister had to rope in a private plane at the last moment for which the procedures took over half an hour. Due to a lack of enough seats, the Chief Minister had to board the plane without security persons. As per the rules, if a Government plane is not able to fly, it has to be reported four hours ago, so that emergency air travel may not be hampered and another arrangement can be made meanwhile.

The Chief Minister and Gujarat BJP chief were out to travel to the national capital to discuss the names of the candidates of the ruling party for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections.  DeshGujarat
