Ahmedabad – Mumbai 1st and 2nd Vande Bharat Superfast Express trains; What’s different, what’s same in them ?

Ahmedabad: So the city of Ahmedabad, as well as the cities of Vadodara, Surat, and Vapi in Gujarat have now got two Vande Bharat Express trains to reach Mumbai.  Both trains take the same duration for the journey. For example, both Vande Bharat Express trains take 5.25 hours to reach Mumbai Central from Ahmedabad. However, the morning train runs every day barring Sundays. While the afternoon train runs every day barring Wednesdays.

It is also interesting to note that the morning train’s ticket price as per the IRCTC website is cheaper than the afternoon train.

The morning Vande Bharat AC chair car (CC) ticket is available for Rs. 1200 while in the case of the afternoon Vande Bharat it is Rs. 1365 for the journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on 14 March. Same way the Executive Chair Car (EC) ticket for morning Vande Bharat is Rs. 2295, while in the afternoon version, it is Rs. 2485.

The afternoon Vande Bharat is operated in the blue/white-colored rake, while the morning train is operated in the new Orange/grey color rake.

It’s worth noting that the second Vande Bharat Express train on the Ahmedabad – Mumbai route is introduced as the first Vande Bharat had occupancy as high as 142 to 146 percent in both directions on this stretch.

In the case of Vadodara, the Vande Bharat Superfast Express takes 4.29 hours to reach Mumbai in ideal condition. In the case of Surat, this train takes 2.27 hours to travel to Mumbai. In the case of the Ahmedabad – Vadodara journey, the morning Vande Bharat Superfast takes less time by 3 minutes compared to the afternoon one. For Ahmedabad – Surat and Ahmedabad – Mumbai journeys both Vande Bharat trains take the same time in ideal conditions.

Timings of the new Vande Bharat Express are such that a person can visit Mumbai from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Vapi at around the starting time of offices and return on the same day.  Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi on March 12 launched 10 new Vande Bharat Express trains.
