Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Monday permitted the entry of Aam Aadmi Party’s Lok Sabha Candidate from the Bharuch seat, Chaitar Vasava, into Narmada district until June 12.
AAP MLA from Dediapada, Vasava, who is out on conditional bail in a case related to extortion and assault of forest officials, was barred from entering Narmada district until the trial concluded.
The court, presided over by Justice M R Mengdey, temporarily lifted the restriction on Vasava’s entry into Narmada district until the next hearing on June 12. The court noted Vasava’s nomination as a candidate for the upcoming parliamentary elections, affirming his statutory right to contest elections as an Indian citizen.
Vasava’s legal troubles stem from an incident where he purportedly threatened and fired a weapon at forest department officials at his residence in Dediapada. DeshGujarat
