Two in Ahmedabad nabbed for circulating doctored video of Amit Shah

Ahmedabad: The Cyber Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police has detained two individuals for posting a doctored video clip of Home Minister Amit Shah on the social media platform Facebook.

Cyber Crime DCP Dr. Lavina Sinha, while providing details of the case, stated that two people have been detained for posting a doctored video of HM Shah on the social media platform Facebook. The arrested individuals are Satish Vansola from Palanpur and Rahul Bhai Bariya from Limakheda, Dahod. Both of them are affiliated with political parties. They had posted the video without verifying its authenticity. The Delhi Police has also filed cases related to the same video, as the BJP had posted the original video on social media to refute the edited version. The phones of these two individuals have been confiscated and are being sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for investigation to determine the origin of the video.

The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch registered a case yesterday (April 29) under sections 505A, 1B, 469, 153A and IT Act.

It is noteworthy that Rahul Bariya is an Aam Aadmi Party worker, while Satish Vansola is the Personal Assistant of Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani. Mevani has previously referred to Satish as his brother who has been with Mevani for 6 years.  DeshGujarat

On Monday, the Delhi Police had also registered an FIR regarding the edited video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In this video, Shah was seen discussing the abolishment of reservations for SC/ST and OBC. However, a fact check by the news agency PTI proved this video to be fake.

One of the complaints regarding the circulation of the edited video was filed by the BJP, while the other was lodged by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The BJP decided to file complaints across the country regarding this video. DeshGujarat
