Gujarat govt mandates rest periods for laborers in summer

Gandhinagar: The Labor Department of the Government of Gujarat issued a notification today in consideration of the summer season. The notification stipulates that laborers will not be asked to work during 1 pm to 4 pm, and that time will be considered as a rest period.
This action has been taken by the personnel officers of the department to ensure the safety of the laborers, in light of the heatwave prevailing for the last two days.
The notification also states that action will be taken against those who do not follow the rules.
According to the official note, there are 15,099 registered construction sites in the state, and officials of the department are conducting inspections at these registered construction sites.
The department has also launched a helpline number, 155372, where any worker can lodge complaints regarding this matter. DeshGujarat
