Surat: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised toll tax rates at around 1100 toll plazas nationwide. Starting June 3rd, toll fees have increased by 3% to 5%, including at the Mandal and Bhatia Toll Plazas on the National Highway 53 or old NH 6.

The Mandal (Vyara) toll booth is located on the Gujarat/Maharashtra border, on the Bardoli section of the highway. Meanwhile, the Bhatia Toll Plaza is on the Bardoli-Surat Hazira section of NH 53 in Gujarat. NH 53 is an amalgamation of the old NH 6 (Surat-Kolkata), NH 200 (Bilaspur-Chandikhole), and NH 5A (Chandikhole-Paradeep), connecting Hajira in Gujarat to Paradeep port in Odisha.

NHAI officials have stated that this toll rate revision is an annual process based on changes in the wholesale price index-based inflation. Normally, NHAI updates toll charges every April, but this year, due to the Lok Sabha general elections, the new rates have been implemented from June 3rd. The increase in toll plaza fees was decided two months after the Election Commission of India’s directive, following the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
