Waiting for Passport appointment gets longer at various Passport Seva Kendra

Ahmedabad: Applicants are facing delays of up to 15 days for online passport appointments at Passport Seva Kendras(PSK), reportedly due to staff shortages. The waiting period at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) has also reached 1.5 to 2 months. These delays are impacting the centers in Mithakhali, Vijay Cross Roads, and other locations under the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad RPO oversees 4 PSKs, 19 POPSKs, and 1 Passport Seva Camp. In POPSKs at Gandhinagar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Nadiad, the waiting period for appointments has reached to 1 to 2 months. An increase in new passport applications has led to a significant backlog, worsened by frequent staff shortages.

Staff shortages have been reported multiple times frequently, yet the issue remains unresolved. This shortage continues to affect the performance of passport issuance services and frustrate applicants. DeshGujarat
