Rajkot: Members of the Rajkot Travels Association made a representation before the district collector regarding harassment by the police and RTO over tax payments in other states.
According to Vijaysinh Jadeja, president of the Rajkot Travels Association, the All India Tourist Permit tax is lower in Nagaland, Diu, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, among other states, compared to Gujarat. As per the “One Nation, One Tax” scheme of the Central government, private travel bus operators from Gujarat pay tax in other states. Though it is legal to do so, the RTO and police in Gujarat have started harassment and also detained a private bus in Ahmedabad, which is considered unfair, the association president said.
He also added that in Gujarat, the seat-wise tax rate is Rs. 1,100, which amounts to Rs. 40,000 per month for a 41-seat bus, while in Nagaland it is only Rs. 12,000 and in Diu it is Rs. 25,000. In other states, the tax rate is also lower. DeshGujarat
