Police man demands Rs. 40 lakh for Clearance Certificate over missing passport of US based NRI; Nabbed by ACB Gujarat after receiving Rs. 5 lakh

Gandhinagar: Kheda, Gujarat origin, America based Indian citizen’s passport went missing in America. He contacted the Indian ambassy in America for a new passport. The Indian ambassy initiated the process and sought Police Clearance Certificate from Kheda district police Gujarat. A cop responsible for issuance of such certificate demanded Rs. 40 lakh bribe from Kheda based father of America based applicant person.  Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) Gujarat has nabbed the cop after he received Rs. 5 lakh bribe from applicant’s father.

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Gujarat has nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector(ASI) of Local Crime Branch(LCB) in Kheda district in a bribe case involving the bribe sum of Rs. 5 lakh.

According to ACB, the accused Bharatgiri Goswami sought Rs. 40 lakh bribe initially for issuing the Police Clearance Certificate, but after bargaining settled at Rs. 5 lakh.

The applicant of certificate was an America based person stays in America. His passport was missing and therefore he had applied for issuance of a new passport in the Indian Ambassy. America based Indian Ambassy had initiated an inquiry into this and sought Police Clearance Certificate from Kheda Police.

Kheda ACB’s ASI Bharatgiri Goswami demanded Rs. 40 lakh bribe from applicant’s father but after barganining settled at Rs. 5 lakh.  As the applicant was unwilling to pay bribe, he contacted ACB, following which a trap was arranged and the accsued police man was arrested after he received bribe money of Rs.  5 lakh at applicant’s father’s house.
