Vande Bharat Express train for the first time to have 20 coaches; trial run on Ahmedabad – Mumbai route

Ahmedabad: For the first time in the country, a Vande Bharat Express train with 20 coaches wil be run on August 9 between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The train will be operated by Western Railway on trial basis. It will not have any passenger on board.
Presently two Vande Bharat Express trains are operated between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Each has 16 coaches. Both trains attract nearly 100 percent occupancy. With green signal to Western Railways by the Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO), a 20 coach Vande Bharat Express train is planned for the first time on this route at the speed of 130 kmph.
The trial run will involve number of provisions such as the requirement of minimum speed, checking by C&W team, certification for operations at 130 kmph, arrangements for throughout passage and green signalling, appointment of operational officer for that, and RPF deployments at crossings.
