Home Minister Amit Shah kicks off Tiranga Yatra in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today kicked off the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from Kesarinandar Chowk in the Viratnagar area of the city.

The Tiranga Yatra will proceed from Viratnagar to Nikol Khodiar Mandir via Canal Road. Along with the police band, personnel from various forces will be present. Approximately 70 bullet jawans and a team from the fire department will also join the yatra. Participants, including school teachers, will carry a 2,151-foot-long flag. Various costumes will be worn by school children, and citizens from societies in the eastern region from Viratnagar to Nikol, as well as people from various organizations, will also take part. Stages have been set up at 10 locations to showcase the culture of different states. Commercial buildings and societies along the entire route have been decorated with the tricolor.

City civic-run AMTS buses were used to transport passengers to the Tiranga Yatra event, removing them from their regular routes. As a result, daily commuters have complained about the lack of available buses for over an hour on most routes.

Due to Yatra these roads are completely closed for vehicular traffic:

A 2.5 km stretch from Viratnagar AMC East Zone Office to Gokul Park AMTS Bus Stand, eastwards from Fuwara Circle, has been closed after 12 noon. Vehicles will also be unable to ply on the Thakkarbapa Nagar Bridge between Bapunagar’s Shyam Shikhar and Nikol’s Uttamnagar. The road from Thakkarnagar Char Road, under the bridge for canal crossing via Uttamnagar, towards Jeevanwadi, and Khodiyar Mandir Nikol, is also closed.

A 3.7 km stretch from Uttamnagar southwards through Beti Bachao Circle to Fuwara Circle will be closed. Additionally, about 500 meters of road from Bahuchar Chowk to Khodiyar Mandir Nikol will also be closed. DeshGujarat
