Red alert in these parts of Gujarat for next 24 hours; IMD forecasts heavy rains till Sept 4

Bhuj: Due to the deep depression located 60 km northwest of Bhuj, the India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat and has issued a red alert for the next 24 hours.

As per the IMD’s latest bulletin, till of 8:30 AM on August 30th, a red alert has been issued for the districts of Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch, as heavy to very heavy rains at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls are very likely in these areas. Meanwhile, an orange alert with a forecast of up to very heavy rain is in place for Gir Somnath and Diu.

A yellow warning for likely heavy rains has been issued for Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad, while the rest of the areas in Gujarat are likely to experience light to moderate rain.

On August 30th, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in all the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, including Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka, and Kutch, for which an orange alert has been issued. Heavy rains at isolated places are likely in the districts of Saurashtra, namely Rajkot, Junagadh, and Morbi, which are under a yellow warning.

On August 31st, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Dwarka, and Kutch are under yellow warnings with the possibility of heavy rain, while the rest of the state may receive light to moderate rain.

On September 1st, heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, namely Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, and Narmada.

On September 2nd, an orange alert has been issued for Vadodara and Chhota Udepur as they may receive heavy to very heavy rains, while Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bharuch, Narmada, and Bhavnagar are under yellow warnings with a forecast for heavy rain.

On September 3rd, Narmada and Bharuch are under an orange alert, while a yellow warning is in place for Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Bhavnagar.

On September 4th, heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in the districts of Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, and Bhavnagar.

WIND WARNING:
– Squally wind speeds reaching 45-55 km/h, gusting to 65 km/h, are likely over the districts of South Gujarat Region and Saurashtra & Kutch on August 29th and 30th.

– Squally wind speeds reaching 55-65 km/h, gusting to 75 km/h, are very likely to prevail along and off the Gujarat coasts, adjoining Pakistan coasts, and over the northeast Arabian Sea from August 29th to 31st.

– Gale wind speeds reaching 65-75 km/h, gusting to 85 km/h, are likely to prevail over the northeast Arabian Sea off Gujarat from August 30th until September 1st.
