Navsari: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today nabbed Santoshsinh Sarvajitsinh Yadav, Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, for accepting a bribe of ₹7,000.
The complaint, lodged via ACB Gujarat’s toll-free number 1064, detailed the harassment of truck drivers by officers and employees at the Navsari RTO office. According to the complaint, trucks passing through the Navsari highway were detained under various pretexts, with drivers and owners being forced to pay bribes ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, in addition to the official fines, to secure the release of their vehicles.
In response, Navsari ACB staff set up a decoy operation with the assistance of the complainant to catch the corrupt official. During the operation, Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector Santoshsinh Yadav (35) demanded a bribe of ₹7,000, over and above the prescribed fine, to release a detained truck. Yadav was caught red-handed accepting the bribe at the Navsari RTO office, and the bribe money was seized on the spot.
Employed since 2013, Yadav had been working at the Navsari RTO office for the past four and a half years, earning a monthly salary of ₹35,000. DeshGujarat
