Jawa 42 FJ launched, price Rs 1.99 lakh, booking opens

Mumbai: Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has introduced the new Jawa 42 FJ, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, ex-showroom. This model stands out within the ’42’ series with its sportier, more robust features.

The Jawa 42 FJ boasts a modern-retro design, highlighted by its teardrop-shaped fuel tank adorned with an aluminium panel. Its side panels echo the design of other Jawa 42 models, maintaining the brand’s classic look. The bike’s fenders are elegantly styled, featuring the distinctive Jawa tail light extending from the rear fender.

On the design front, the bike incorporates multi-spoke alloy wheels, a blacked-out engine, and upswept exhaust pipes, all contributing to its sporty appearance. The base version, however, comes with wire-spoke wheels. The Jawa 42 FJ is available in five distinct colors, adding to its visual appeal.

Feature-wise, the bike includes LED headlights, a USB charging port, and a single-pod digital instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the Jawa 42 FJ is equipped with a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine delivering 28.7bhp and 29.62Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch.

The bike utilizes a steel cradle frame supported by a 41mm telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. For braking, it features a 320mm front disc and a rear disc brake, with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Bookings for the Jawa 42 FJ are now open, with deliveries expected to begin shortly.

The 42 FJ shares a similar aesthetic with the standard 42 but comes with distinct mechanical upgrades. It retains the sporty neo-retro design of the standard model, featuring a round headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, squared side panels branded with the ’42’ logo, and a single-piece seat.

However, the 42 FJ introduces some unique elements, such as a shorter rear fender, split pillion grab rails, and blacked-out, upswept twin exhausts, replacing the parallel exhausts found on the standard 42. Additionally, the 42 FJ is distinguished by its segment-first brushed aluminium inserts on the fuel tank, which enhance its rugged appearance.
