Duplicate ghee being sold as Sumul Ghee seized in Surat

Surat: The local police seized duplicate ghee being sold as Sumul Ghee from Aai Mata Super Store in the Adajan area of the city on Thursday. Nine tins of counterfeit ghee were confiscated from the shop. The shopkeeper has reportedly been selling the fake ghee for the last 6-7 months, allegedly supplied by a salesman.

This action was taken after an employee of Sumul Dairy received a tip-off that the store was selling fake ghee. Following this, a raid was conducted at Aai Mata Super Store in coordination with the police, resulting in the seizure of counterfeit products. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a fraud case against grocery trader Hariram Sodaram Choudhary (30), a resident of Ambika Apart, Palanpur Patia, originally from Badgavada, Pali, along with the salesman. The police have arrested grocery trader Hariram.

This is not the first instance, as the police have previously seized significant amounts of fake Sumul ghee from various areas. Selling counterfeit ghee poses a serious health risk to the public, as these unscrupulous traders prioritize profit over consumer safety. Since fake ghee has been sold for 6 to 7 months, the search for the involved salesmen has commenced. DeshGujarat
