New training facility for police personnel to come up in Kathlal
October 26, 2024
Ahmedabad: The state government informed the Gujarat High Court on Friday that a new training facility for newly recruited police personnel is currently under construction in Kathlal, Kheda district.
In an affidavit submitted by the IGP (Administration), it was mentioned that this new training facility will accommodate 2,500 trainees and will serve as the sixth state-level training center for the police department in Gujarat. The affidavit also noted that discussions are ongoing to explore the establishment of additional training centers to address both current vacancies and future requirements for the police force.
With the addition of the Kathlal facility, there will be six state-level training academies for the police, alongside 20 district-level training facilities throughout the state. Collectively, these centers can train up to 4,000 candidates. Meanwhile, the state also has 14 other training centers for around 2,500 recruits of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF).
The state government has undertaken to fill a total of 14,283 positions in the police department by September 2026. Meanwhile, the High Court has asked the government to provide an update on the progress of the recruitment process during the next hearing scheduled for the first week of December. DeshGujarat
