Ahmedabad: Protests and demonstrations against atrocities on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh have been ongoing in India for a long time. Today, a massive human chain (Manav Shrankhla) was formed from Vallabh Sadan on Ashram Road to Usmanpura Riverfront Park to oppose these atrocities in the neighboring country. The event, organized under the banner of the Hindu Hit Rakshak Samiti, saw participation from several religious leaders, including Dilipdasji Maharaj, Mahant of Ahmedabad’s Jagannath Temple; sadhus from the Swaminarayan sect; AMC Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani; BJP ward presidents; and MLAs.
At least 150 people from various wards of Ahmedabad city, along with members of the BJP’s saint committee, gathered at the Riverfront early in the morning. Slogans such as “Stop atrocities in Bangladesh” were raised, and participants held banners to voice their opposition to the persecution of Hindus. They also demanded the release of Chinmaydasji Maharaj.
Ahmedabad Jagannath Temple’s Mahant, Dilipdasji Maharaj, stated that the condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is shameful. He pointed out that idols are being desecrated and called on the state and central governments to make efforts to establish peace in Bangladesh. He also demanded the immediate release of detained saints, emphasizing that Hindus stand united and will always remain so.
Shyamcharan Dasji of the Bhadaj Hare Krishna Temple expressed outrage, stating that atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh have been ongoing for years, including idol desecration and the murders of priests. He emphasized the need for freedom of religion in every country and urged strict action against violators. He added that the Bangladeshi government must protect people practicing Sanatan Dharma.
Devang Dani, Chairman of the AMC Standing Committee, stated that the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have prompted the Hindu community in Ahmedabad to form a human chain along the Riverfront. He warned those causing disturbances that while Hindus do not attack anyone, they will not tolerate aggression against them. He stressed that the unity of Hindus worldwide sends a strong message: “If Hindus are united, they are safe.”
Chaitanya Shambhu Maharaj remarked on the ongoing killings of Hindus and the destruction of temples in Bangladesh, describing it as a consequence of past mistakes. He urged Hindus to unite to prevent such events in the future, emphasizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, “If united, we are safe.” He added that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has written to Prime Minister Modi, urging him to alert the UN and demand strict action. He concluded that if the UN does not respond, India should be allowed to act independently to address the issue and teach Bangladesh a lesson. DeshGujarat
