Surat: A ₹2.37 crore Sports Activity Zone will be developed under the Utran railway bridge at Manisha Garnala, offering sports activities such as box cricket, table tennis, and more. Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has already started the work to create a Sports Activity Area under the Parle Point-based bridge.
The planned games include box cricket, pickleball, badminton, air hockey, table tennis, pool, carrom, etc., along with a cafeteria and book stall. A team of SMC officials recently visited the Union Territory of Silvassa to observe the already active Sports Activity Zone there. After completing the tender process, the contractor will be required to create the Activity Zone within three months, with a one-year liability period.
The state government had recently issued guidelines to create Sports Activity Zones under various bridges wherever possible.
