9 assistant teachers of SMC school dismissed for misconduct
December 20, 2024
Surat: The Urban Primary Education Committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has dismissed nine assistant teachers from the Hindi medium school at Vadod with immediate effect. An unannounced inspection revealed that the teachers were neglecting their duties, marking attendance despite being absent from classrooms, and causing financial losses to the municipality.
The school, which caters to 1,800 students, currently has only six permanent teachers. With five of them set to transfer to Ahmedabad, the Education Committee had employed 36 assistant teachers through an external agency. However, the inspection found that nine of these teachers were not conducting classes, with some reportedly spending time on computers instead of teaching. This swift action aims to address the students’ educational needs and ensure accountability. DeshGujarat
