Limbayat-Dindoli Underpass in Surat Likely to Open in February 2025 with Unique Features

Surat: A 502-meter-long Limbayat-Dindoli underpass, which is being constructed under whopping seven railway tracks, is likely to be opened for traffic in February. About 50,000 people are expected to benefit from this underpass daily after it is opened.

The underpass will be for the use of small vehicles only, as heavy vehicles will not be able to enter. The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has created a special arrangement for firefighting at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh due to this reason. A four-inch pipe is installed on both sides of the underpass. In case of fire, a firefighter will be able to connect the water pipe from outside.

The SMC has constructed two water storage tanks with a 40,000-liter capacity and set up four pumps for rainwater management during the monsoon. The bridge is 502 meters long, including its approach. The underpass area itself is 180 meters long, compared to the usual 40-60 meter underpasses elsewhere.

Due to the long length of the underpass, a Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system has been installed at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore to prevent suffocation from vehicular smoke inside the underpass. DeshGujarat
