Major Demolition in Ambaji for Shakti Corridor Project

Ambaji: A major demolition drive is being carried out in Ambaji, where 89 houses in the Rabariwas area of the temple town are being razed. The demolition drive, which is being carried out amid heavy police deployment, is part of infrastructure projects, including the Shakti Corridor, Sati Sarovar, and temple development in the region.

The demolition work, which is currently underway, is aimed at removing obstructions for the Shakti Corridor Project. Notices were issued to over 89 homes in Ambaji, and more than 200 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth execution of this large-scale operation. The action follows orders from the Gujarat High Court after a group of 60 petitioners filed complaints against the demolition. The court dismissed their plea and instructed the administration to proceed without delay.

The demolition process involves the removal of both raw and fully constructed homes under the supervision of the Collector, District Police Chief, and other senior officials. Strict security measures are in place to prevent any untoward incidents. The process, which began late last night, has left several residents, some of whom had lived in these homes for over 50 years, displaced.

The administration, supported by over 200 police personnel, worked throughout the night to carry out the demolitions using JCB machines. The temple trust also kept its kitchen open for the people affected by the demolition drive. It’s worth noting that the Ambaji corridor is being constructed at a cost of ₹1200 crore, and the project will be completed in five phases. DeshGujarat
