Gujarat has 123.84 Police Personnel Per Lakh Population; Statewise figures here

New Delhi: Gujarat has 123.84 police personnel per lakh population as of January 1, 2023. This figure is lower than the national average of 154.84 personnel per lakh population, as stated in a reply to a question during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai.
As per the reply, the state’s police-population ratio has fluctuated over the years, dropping from 131.62 in 2019 to 122.78 in 2020, then rising again to 132.69 in 2021, and dropping to 127.82 in 2022.

“Police” is a State subject falling in List-II (State List) of the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India. As per data on Police Organisations provided by the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), the police-population ratio, States/UTs-wise as on 1st January, from the year 2019 to 2023, is at Annexure.
