Cancellation of Akasa Air Delhi-Ahmedabad flight leaves passengers frustrated

New Delhi: Passengers bound for Ahmedabad created a ruckus at Delhi airport after a Delhi-Ahmedabad flight operated by Akasa Air was cancelled at the last moment.

Flight No. QP1146 from Delhi to Ahmedabad was scheduled to take off at 10:30 PM. Passengers were initially informed of a delay and told that the flight would depart at 11:30 PM. However, just moments before the rescheduled takeoff, the airline announced that the flight had been cancelled, leaving passengers frustrated.

Many passengers were traveling to Ahmedabad for the India vs. England ODI match being held today at Narendra Modi Stadium. One of the passengers, a girl from Ahmedabad, had an exam today, and fearing that she would miss it, she broke down in tears at Delhi airport.

One of the passengers took to Twitter and wrote, “Shocking experience! My flight QP1146 from Delhi got cancelled at the last moment, leaving us stranded. No support, no alternative provided—just a blunt ‘Do whatever you want.’ I’m traveling with elderly parents for my brother’s wedding, and this is unacceptable.”

Another passenger tweeted, “Flight QP1146 Delhi-Ahmedabad cancelled without any reason. No alternative nor stay provided. Passengers with kids & elders are the worst sufferers. Seems like an unreliable airline.”

He further stated, “Had to take AI2959 (Air India) at a cost of ₹24,360. Please arrange for reimbursement of the difference between the cancellation amount and the cost incurred to travel back.”

Meanwhile, the airline, in response to passengers’ tweets, stated that Flight QP1146 from Delhi to Ahmedabad had been cancelled due to a bird strike on the incoming aircraft.

Videos of passengers shouting and sloganeering at the airport are circulating on the internet. DeshGujarat
